Hi, I'm Finn Lacey! I am a Senior Mechanical Engineering student at Fairfield University, pursuing an accelerated masters in Management of Technology in Fall 2026.
I have gained industry experience through internships at Jet Aviation and Abbott Laboratories, where I have worked on manufacturing process optimization, systems integration, design compliance, improving engineering and design standards, and 3D design/CAM.
I enjoy finding innovative solutions to complex engineering problems and have a passion for manufacturing, aerospace, and project management. Take a look at some of the projects I have worked on below!
University research project where I helped design and build a hypersonic research facility capable of Mach 6 flow and above.
After completing the facility, I am continuing research into the development of sensor equipment for hypersonic flight systems.
This project measured impact dynamics in a golf swing using Physics Tracker, then compared results with specialized equipment.
Also highlights current work: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation using Ansys Fluent and design and construction of a composite thumb brace using ANSYS Workbench.
Overview of three student design competitions: a customized airfoil, a model internal combustion engine, and a truss bridge.
